If you are a motivated individual, with great interpersonal skills, who works well under pressure, and possess the qualifications listed below, and would like to be placed on either our Pilot or Crew Chief / Technician candidate rosters, please send an email with the requested information to info@astraeusaerial.com, with the appropriate phrase "Pilot" or “Crew Chief Candidate” in the subject field.  Applicants forwarding emails with incomplete information will not be placed onto the roster.

Pilot

Candidates must be a qualified FAA-licensed Remote Pilot with expert VTOL RPV skills for cinema image capture.  Individual should be well versed in both LOS and FPV piloting techniques, while possessing an intuitive understanding of camera movement / blocking action, composition, lighting concerns, and a comprehension of how to construct a visual film narrative.  Candidate should be a team player -- low key and easy going -- with an ability to communicate confidently and effectively with Directors and DPs on a conceptual, logistical, and technical level.  Must have a solid grasp of UAS technologies in general, along with a mastery of multi rotor mechanics and flight computer programming and dynamics.  He or she must be open to, and wiling to learn, our company-specific operational methodologies and proprietary systems "from the ground up", and be dedicated to the time and effort that this will entail.  An intimate, platform specific knowledge of the DJI Inspire 2 (X7) is a plus.

In your email, please provide links to material that showcase image capture skills along with FPV piloting skills, describe your degree of experience, and confirm the following:

  1. FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Full-Scale Certificate for Section 333)
  2. Valid Passport.
  3. Valid Driver’s License (and confidential disclosure of moving violations and/or arrest history).
  4. A confidential disclosure of UAS "accident history" and any ensuing aircraft insurance claims.
  5. Live within commuting distance of Los Angeles, or be willing to relocate.
  6. Be willing to travel extensively to shooting locations when necessary.

Crew Chief / Technician

Crew Chief / Technician candidates must be familiar with all aspects of aircraft operation and maintenance, and must be adept at troubleshooting and problem solving with regard to all flight-critical aircraft and systems components.  To be certified as a Crew Chief / Technician, a candidate must demonstrate that he or she is proficient in the installation, removal, maintenance, repair, programming, or other required tasks, critical to aircraft flight operations, as listed below:

  1. Airframe / Structural Components.
  2.  Flight Controller or Autopilot / Stability Systems.
  3. Radio Command and Control (C2) Systems, including Controllers, Transmitters, Receivers, Antennas, and/or Wiring.
  4. Image-Capture Airborne and Ground-Based Systems.
  5. Required OSD and Telemetry.
  6. Power Distribution Board, or Main Power Bus Wiring or Harness.
  7. Motors.
  8. ESCs.
  9. Propellers.
  10. Actuators and Servos.
  11. Batteries.

  1. Valid Passport.
